Delhi High Court and Supreme Court
Delhi High Court cases are searched on the High Court website by case type, number and year, by diary number, or by party name. The cause list for the next day is published in the evening. Supreme Court cases are searched on its website by diary or case number. Our guide on filing a case in the Delhi High Court explains case types and listing.
Reading the status
- Next date and purpose: when the case is listed and for what, such as appearance, evidence or arguments.
- Case stage: where the case is in the process. See stages of a criminal case in Delhi.
- Orders: daily orders and judgments, available as PDFs once uploaded.
- Transfer: if the case moved to another court, the new court is shown.
When to get a lawyer
Status pages do not tell you what to do next. If you have received a summons, a warrant has been issued, or the case is listed for evidence, speak to a lawyer before the date. Our criminal lawyers at Rohini Court, civil lawyers and Delhi High Court lawyers can track and appear in your matter.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check my court case status in Delhi?
For district court cases, use the eCourts services portal: choose Delhi, the district and the court complex, then search by CNR number, case number, party name or FIR number. Delhi High Court cases are checked on the High Court’s website, and consumer cases on e-Jagriti.
What is a CNR number?
The Case Number Record (CNR) is a unique 16-character number given to every case in the district courts, made of 4 letters and 12 digits. It is printed on the order sheet and summons and is the quickest way to find a case on eCourts.
Can I check case status by SMS?
Yes. Send ECOURTS followed by your CNR number to 9766899899 to receive the case status by SMS.
How do I find a criminal case from an FIR number?
On eCourts, choose the FIR number search, select the police station and enter the FIR number and year. The case appears only after the police file the charge sheet or final report in court.
Which court complex handles my area in Delhi?
Delhi has seven district court complexes: Tis Hazari, Rohini, Karkardooma, Saket, Dwarka, Patiala House and Rouse Avenue. Your case is heard by the complex for the district where the police station, property or cause of action is located.
What does the next date on eCourts mean?
It is the date the case is listed next and the purpose, such as evidence, arguments or orders. Check the daily order or interim order for what happened on the last date.
